               The Department of Natural Resources and Society at the University of Idaho invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar.
               We seek recent PhDs in the social sciences, or related field, to participate/lead in the design, implementation, and direction
               of ongoing social science research on public lands management and visitor use. The successful candidate will contribute to a
               number of related projects concerning participatory decision-making in resource management planning, travel
               management planning, visitor use impacts on public lands, and assessment of the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic
               Rivers Act. The position will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing research with a variety of stakeholders
               concerning the above topics. They also may be involved in content analysis and evaluation of travel management processes,
               including spatial assessment of travel routes. The postdoctoral scholar will lead writing of professional reports and
               academic publications relating to results. We seek individuals who are motivated to develop an outstanding program of
               research, who thrive in a team environment, and who will take a leadership role in all aspects of project design,
               implementation, and analysis.

              REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

               Completed PhD in natural resource social science, or related field, at the time of starting the position; experience publishing
               research in refereed journals relevant to the field of study; experience working across diverse disciplines; strong analytical
               skills for applied natural resource research.

              DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

               The ideal candidate will have education and experience related to public lands management, government finance and/or
               natural resource policy analysis research; specific experience with travel management planning or public involvement
               planning/analysis; familiarity with ArcGIS and spatial analysis; experience competing for external funding; strong verbal and
               written communication skills; strong data and project management skills; experience in statistical analysis and
               interpretation of data.

               This is a one-year, limited term, non-tenure position with the possibility of extension contingent on availability of funding
               and satisfactory performance.

               Finalists must be able to pass a criminal background check.
